RunDisney announced today that they will be bringing a new race to Walt Disney World in Florida: the Star Wars Half Marathon-The Dark Side. This race weekend will pay homage to the villains of the Star Wars galaxy.
It will take place April 14-17, 2016 and will feature all kinds of fun from the Star Wars franchise. There will be a 5k, 10k, half marathon and kid's races as well. Finishers will be rewarded with medals themed to the event.
The only other details released at this point are about the Kessel Run Challenge which is a Star Wars themed Coast to Coast challenge. If you participate in the Star Wars Half Marathon in Disneyland and Walt Disney World, you'll be rewarded with a medal designed like the Millennium Falcon. For those brave enough you can also sign up for the Dark Side Challenge where you'll run the 10k one day and the half marathon the next day.
If you've ever done a runDisney event, you know about the fun involved. You'll run through courses that take you through the Disney properties, get photo opportunities with tons of characters and when you complete the run-get a finisher's medal that makes it all worth it.
You can sign up starting Sept 22 at rundisney.com, but make sure you hurry as these races sell out within minutes of them going on sale.
